Manchester United legend & Inter Miami owner David Beckham will reportedly be awarded a knighthood as part of the King's Birthday Honours List.

According to the former England international is expected to be formally recognised with the title of 'Sir' next week. Having earned 115 caps for the England national team and achieved global recognition for his work both on and off the pitch, Beckham’s name is said to feature prominently in the list of honourees to be revealed later this month.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star has built a fine personal relationship with King Charles III over the years, which has grown stronger through Beckham’s role as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation. Their mutual love of gardening was on full display during a recent meeting at the Chelsea Flower Show, where Beckham warmly greeted Charles and Queen Camilla. He even wore a rose associated with the King in his lapel – a subtle yet meaningful nod to their shared interests.

During their interaction, the monarch appeared to drop a cheeky hint regarding Beckham’s long wait for royal recognition. Charles asked him, "You got it, didn’t you?" to which Beckham responded with, "It was incredible, thank you. It was very kind." This brief exchange has now taken on new significance amid reports of his imminent knighthood.
This would not be Beckham’s first brush with royal recognition. In 2003, he was awarded the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for his contributions to football. He was joined by his wife, Victoria, sons Brooklyn and Romeo, and his grandparents. Victoria will now also take the title of 'Lady'.

Beckham was initially nominated for a knighthood back in 2011 following his instrumental role in helping London secure the 2012 Olympic Games. However, his name was later removed from consideration due to involvement in a tax avoidance scheme.
Since retiring from professional football in 2013, Beckham has focused on philanthropic work, business ventures, and expanding the profile of Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer club he co-owns. With his financial matters reportedly resolved and cleared by UK tax authorities several years ago, the path to honour finally appears clear.
