The Red Dragons striker stepped off the bench at St Andrew’s as Phil Parkinson’s side suffered their first League One defeat of the 2024-25 campaign. They took the lead early on in the West Midlands, through in-form Jack Marriott, but slipped to a 3-1 reversal in front of Rob McElhenney, Tom Brady and David Beckham.

Mullin brought his usual blend of passion and energy to proceedings after being introduced in the second half, and was involved in one flashpoint that sparked a mass melee. He tangled with Blues defender Alex Cochrane, leaving both on the turf.

WHAT MULLIN SAID

Cochrane came close to treading on Mullin’s head, with the Wrexham frontman opening his mouth at one point as if to ready himself for a chomp on the Birmingham full-back’s calf. He quickly thought better of it and has since posted on social media, alongside a video of the incident in question: “I know what it looks like… but it didn’t happen. Although you can tell his leg was thinking about attacking my mouth.”

WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Players from both sides – including James McClean – were booked in the aftermath of the skirmish that unfolded, with Birmingham captain Krystian Bielik later being sent off. Mullin is still searching for his first league goal of the season and will be hoping to get another opportunity to open his account when Wrexham return to action at home to Crawley on Saturday.
