Boca Juniors fans produced a spinetingling tribute to footballing legend Maradona ahead of Sunday's clash with San Lorenzo at La Bombonera. Members of Maradona's family were at the game and were greeted by raucous chants from supporters who also unveiled a spectacular tribute to the World Cup winner. Boca went on to win 3-2 in a dramatic Argentine Primera Division contest.

Maradona supported Boca Juniors as a boy and enjoyed two spells with the club during his playing career to cement his status as a true legend of the club. He scored 28 goals in 40 appearances to help win the Argentina Primera División Metropolitano in 1982 before then heading to Europe with Barcelona. Maradona returned to Boca Juniors in 1995 and spent two years with the club before hanging up his boots.

Maradona is remembered as one of the greatest footballers ever to grace the game after also leading Argentina to World Cup glory in 1986 and wowing supporters throughout his career with his incredible talent. The footballing legend died in 2020 but is still adored throughout the country and is often described as Argentina's favourite son.
