The England striker made a full return to action against Bosnia after having missed the last two matches of the season with Bayern Munich through injury. The 30-year-old came onto the field just seconds after Cole Palmer gave the Three Lions the lead on the night through a penalty. The England boss has revealed that Kane wanted to come on early and take the penalty ahead of the Chelsea forward but Southgate directly turned down that request.

Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live, Southgate said: "Our plan today was half an hour and he'll start on Friday. He had the audacity to ask to come on and to score the penalty which was never going to happen! The great thing is we've got through the last few days with no new problems.

"That's really important. We needed to get through these first matches to get a clearer picture. The guys rehabbing have done well. [Bosnia] were an opponent that were dogged, determined.

"Physically, it was a good workout but in the end, a good performance. The scoreline reflected the performance. We had a lot of fresh players to bring in. Once you break that resistance then it starts to come."

The Bayern star eventually got his name on the scoresheet in the last minute of regulation time after a pinball in the Bosnia six-yard box saw the ball fall right at his feet. The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has been in fine form since his move to the Bundesliga and will look to continue that form into the Euros.

WHAT NEXT FOR KANE?

England will take on Iceland in their last warm-up match before they begin their Euros campaign with a clash against Serbia. Southgate will likely give Kane a start against Iceland as the Three Lions look to have their star striker fit and ready for the trip to Germany.
